Our client is a prominent public corporation in India’s energy and power sector, managing customer accounts, payments, complaints, and other customer-focused services. They sought to balance cost and performance by migrating from a monolithic data center to the cloud, enhancing application and data security through role-based access, and introducing automation best practices.

Challenge

The client sought to enhance customer experience by adopting new-age technologies and improving their infrastructure. Legacy systems posed challenges in technology integration and scalability, prompting the need for a more advanced solution. The client wanted to ensure a cost-effective and high-performance migration from their monolithic data center to the AWS cloud. They require role-based access controls to enhance applications and data security and implement automation best practices to streamline operations and increase efficiency. The client wanted to smoothly transition to cloud technologies through data center migration, security integrations, and automation while effectively balancing cost and performance.

Solutions Implemented

The client’s cloud journey started with setting up an AWS Landing Zone, a time-saving solution that establishes a secure and scalable environment for running workloads. This setup ensures seamless connectivity with existing on-premises environments through redundant VPN connections to the remaining network infrastructure. The Landing Zone is the cornerstone for cloud migration, addressing critical needs such as security, implementation speed, integration with existing infrastructure, cost control, and capacity to support digital transformation and migration requirements.

  • Amazon CloudWatch for Proactive Monitoring Deployed Amazon CloudWatch to collect and monitor real-time logs and performance metrics from EC2 instances and database environments. This enabled proactive alerting, faster root cause analysis, and improved system uptime across production workloads.
  • Amazon IAM and VPC for Security and Access Control Implemented Identity and Access Management (IAM) and a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to ensure secure resource access. Role-based permissions and encrypted VPCs helped maintain a secure posture while meeting internal compliance and data protection policies.
  • Elastic Load Balancing for High Availability Integrated Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) to distribute traffic across multiple EC2 instances, improving application responsiveness and ensuring high availability during traffic spikes or maintenance periods.

Automated backups of DB instances securely stored in Amazon S3 to ensure reliable backup and disaster recovery.

Amazon EC2 Linux Instances

Migrated open-source CentOS servers and COTS RedHat-based server applications, enabling quick scale capacity adjustments as computing requirements change.
